Modal Path Ethics is Slowing Down

Since January, I have been following one thread of inquiry at machine speed.

This was probably a horrible mistake.

In eight months, that thread has produced a moral framework and three books, including Sacred Slack, which is out now and which you should absolutely buy because I would like at least one of these decisions to have positive reinforcement. It also produced board games, video games (TimeVault demo still coming), software, a small mountain of articles, several increasingly unreasonable research projects, and enough side paths that the website now resembles the desk of somebody attempting to solve philosophy by refusing to go to bed until that happens.

My hands have responded to all this by becoming largely theoretical.

Doctors are furious. Various joints have been eliminated. I have been informed with the sort of patience usually reserved for dangerous machinery that human beings are not designed to type this much.

Fair. Fine.

The good news is that the thread finally went somewhere.

What started as a loose investigation into Modal Path Ethics kept widening: markets, sovereignty, religion, war, artificial intelligence, institutional failure, coordination, correction, the strange ways systems become harder to escape because they work. Enough of the pieces started touching that a much larger argument became visible.

I have enough material now.

So Modal Path Ethics is slowing down. Finally.

For the next several weeks, I am pausing the normal rotation of tracks and side projects. There will still be one article a day, which I understand is probably a very funny definition of “slowing down,” but they will all follow the same road.

One argument. One direction. Less thrashing around in every available intellectual bush.

Another book waiting on the other side.
